Who We Are

The Southeastern District (SED) is a regional office of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod. We include Delaware, York County Pennsylvania, Maryland, Washington D.C., Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.

Lutheran Servants for Christ (LSC) is an Recognized Service Organization (RSO) of the Lutheran Church -- Missouri Synod disaster response organization responding to disaster and emergency needs within the SED. This group supports the mission of the District Disaster Response Coordinator (DDRC)  and is comprised of members from District congregations who have been trained in Disaster Response.

What We Do

Disaster Response Teams throughout the SED are prepared to assist with chainsaw work, mucking and cleaning homes following a disaster, and helping with recovery. Our congregations and schools are quick to respond with flood buckets and specific requests for needs. There are 8 congregations with disaster response trailers, two tractors with trailers to assist with tree work, a bunk trailer to help with on-site housing, a shower trailer to help with on-site showers, and a mobile food unit.  LSC organizes and leads LERT, chainsaw, and mobile food preparation and delivery training classes throughout the District. LSC hosts a Disaster Response Conference with multiple training sessions every other year in the January-March timeframe. LSC also purchases, maintains, stores, and transports equipment suitable for disaster response missions.
