LCMS Disaster Training encourages LCMS congregations to engage in Lutheran Early Response Team (LERT) training so they can help their neighbor with the mercy of Christ both in ordinary times and during extraordinary disaster situations. Did you know that high school age youth can also participate in LERT Training and in disaster responses?
With the exception of hazardous work (chain sawing, work in mold/mildew areas, etc.), LERT-trained youth can work alongside their brothers and sisters as we serve our neighbors. The Lord's young people bring an amazing array of gifts to this work. energy, enthusiasm, friendliness, and love for their distressed neighbor. LERT service is a great way for the entire congregation to join together in God-pleasing service and to enjoy each others' company.
Below you'll find a link to the LCMS LERT Disaster Training page. There is some good information for your congregation and several downloadable resources for promoting LERT activities in your congregation.
