For all existing and new LERT volunteers. Housing reminder: we have a gym scheduled for us at a local Lutheran school. Volunteers must bring their own cots or air mattresses, bedding, pillows and towels. The gym is air conditioned but you may want to bring a fan and extension cord. LERT background checks are required for those who are staying in LERT housing.
I have confirmed that there are several RV spots available nearby and several hotels. Information on hotels and B&Bs can be found at "visitperrycounty.com".
Meals will be provided by local residents. Water and Gatorade will be provided. Volunteers are reminded to wear yellow LERT shirts or vests.
For new volunteers we will have some extra vests on hand. Please dress for the weather. Chainsaw operators will need to provide their own PPE. We will have chainsaws on site. Carpenters are asked to bring their own tools to do steps, replace porch planks etc. Drywall volunteers are requested to bring their own drywall tools. We hope to have a chinking mentor on site to teach us how to do this skill. Sadly the mentor we had lined up for glazing succumbed to his cancer last week. We will have our large LERT trailer and our skid steer on site.
When you arrive, please report to the Saxon Lutheran Memorial site and receive your assignment from Kris Schuldt.
