As Hurricane Helene makes landfall in Florida and moves northward through Georgia, Alabama, South and North Carolina and Kentucky, we pray for all who will be impacted by the storm and flooding.
It is still too soon to determine exactly where Helene will impact the Southeastern District (SED), the damage that may occur, and what disaster
recovery will look like. Once the storm has passed and as we gather information, we will share it with you.
LERT volunteers should prepare for deploying by making sure equipment and your personal go-kit are ready. This is a STANDBY notification only. The SED will communicate news and needs through LCMS-LERT.
If needed over
the next 8 - 12 weeks, we will be seeking volunteers in the SED and to help our brothers and sisters in Florida-Georgia, Southern, and Mid-South Districts. There may be calls for helps for volunteers helping as: cooks, facility cleaners, job assessors
(experienced or we can train), equipment transporters, tractor operators
(we can train), chainsaw operators, and debris cleanup.
Please pray for all those in the hurricane's path.
