Monday evening, July 6th, thunderstorms with high winds struck the Detroit Lakes, MN, area. Power lines and trees were downed. Utility workers and First Responders are on the scene. A deployment will be announced as soon as an assessment is done and areas are safe for LERT volunteers to respond. Do not deploy until a specific deployment date and time is published. This is a "Standby" announcement only. Watch for an update in the next 24-48 hours.
All LERT volunteers who consider responding should have current background checks completed. The background check application is available through your LERT account. The cost for LERT volunteers is covered by LCMS Disaster Response-LERT as long as you go through LCMS-LERT.org to obtain it. You can find it posted as the last Training & Response.
