With the news coverage that has been out there we’re sure most all are aware of Hurricane Ian heading towards the gulf side of Florida. Present forecasts are for Ian to make land fall Thursday-Friday. Currently it looks as if Ian will take a path just west of the Tampa area, striking Florida in the Chiefland, Cross City area and continuing northward into Georgia.
Until leaders in the LERT program can assess damage, the need for LERT responses, and a place to headquarter, there are no present plans to deploy. That will most likely change quickly once Ian makes landfall.
To stay abreast of deployment plans and needs in the Florida-Georgia area, make sure you have ‘fanned’ the Florida-Georgia District on LCMS-LERT.org. Any plans for deployment or need for volunteers will be posted by that District.
At this time we ask that you keep the Florida-Georgia District in your prayers. You may also want to look at your calendar to see if a deployment is needed whether you can clear any scheduling conflicts to allow you to assist.
