Hurricane Idalia came ashore this morning as a Category 3 storm in the Cross City to Perry, FL area, which is sparsely populated. While the area sustained coastal flooding and wind damage, the storm’s damage quickly diminished inland. All other areas of the FLGA District also fared well (as of this posting).
After assessing the affected area damages and needs, the FLGA District and LCMS Disaster Response have determined there will be no organized District LERT response. There is no LCMS church in Perry and our nearest churches are 1-1.5 hours from affected areas. Congregations and volunteers may have local disaster response needs, and are encouraged to seek ways to assist.
Volunteers are to stand down from this LERT response.
