Volunteer: LERT Deployment, Tornado Damage Cleanup, St. Matthew Lutheran Church, North St. Louis, MO., 5-9-2026LERT volunteers are needed to fell, limb and buck trees damaged by wind and tornadoes. We plan to form two teams to do this work at separate but nearby sites. Each team will have a site leader, chainsaw operators and LERT volunteers to drag limbs etc. and stack them in piles. All LERT volunteers are encouraged to wear yellow LERT shirts or vests, sturdy boots, work gloves and hard hats. All LERT chainsaw operators are required to wear all appropriate PPE. Note: the volunteers that recently completed a chainsaw class at Concordia Seminary are welcome to come to this deployment. Volunteers will need to bring their own water, Gatorade and lunch on this deployment. One team of volunteers will meet at St. Matthew in the Baden area, and the second team of volunteers will meet at Immanuel Wentzville. If you plan to sign up, please do so before Friday. We will be taking the list of volunteers and coordinating which site for you to go to on Saturday morning. Overall deployment supervisor is Kris Schuldt, 314-971-5747. We will meet at 482 Jones Rd, Clarksville, TN 37043 at 8:00 am and work until 4:00 pm (or until work is complete) on May 11, 2026. Lunch will be provided. We will gather together at Faith Lutheran Church 405 Sheila Dr Hopkinsville, KY 42240 to work on May 12. Please meet at the church by 7:45 am. Please bring proper attire for the weather and all necessary PPE for chainsaw work. Faith In Action will bring a Bobcat MT100 and any technical tools required to complete the work. Showers have been secured at the Hopkinsville YMCA. Overnight accommodations will be at Faith Lutheran Church. All meals will be provided.
