Trainings & Deployments From: LCMS Disaster Response & Training

Disasters like tornadoes, hurricanes, and floods can have devastating effects on communities. It is better to prepare and train now than to try to receive training in the midst of the disaster. Trinity Lutheran Church, Hoffman, will host a Lutheran Early Response Team (LERT) training on October 11. The training will allow you to volunteer and to serve those affected by a disaster.  This training is part of the Synod-wide disaster response program, facilitated by a national network of District Disaster Response Teams.

 

Training will take place at Trinity Lutheran School, 8701 Huey Rd, Hoffman, on Sunday, October 11 from 1 pm- 4 pm.

 

Registration for the training is online at www.lcms-lert.org. Click on the yellow ‘Sign Up’ box near the top to create a login (email address) and password (remember your password for future use).  Note: each individual signing up must use a separate email address. You will then be asked to create a profile and to sign a generic release form. Click on the ‘Training and Deployment’ box on the left and look for the Basic LERT training to be held at Trinity. Registration should be completed by September 26.

 

The cost of the training is $35.00 per person and should be paid the day of the training (please make checks payable to Trinity Lutheran - Hoffman). This fee covers the cost of the LERT manual, certificate, ID badge, T-shirt and refreshments.

 

This training will help you focus on the most important things to remember as you prepare for or respond to a disaster in your community or beyond. At the center of our LERT volunteer training is one thing: MERCY! Christ's mercy is the basis for everything we say and do. This training event will equip you to be an effective volunteer should a disaster strike your community.

A Basic Lutheran Early Response Team (LERT) training class will be held at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 601 Church St, Campbell Hill, IL 62916, Sunday, October 18, from 5:30 p.m.–8:30 p.m.  Participants will be introduced to the LCMS Disaster Response program, learn basic nature of disasters, the opportunities to respond to personal needs in disasters, and how Christians can support families, congregations and the public as the hands and feet of Jesus during these trying times. A lunch will be provided.

The registration fee is $35.00 per person which helps cover the cost of the LERT manual, ID badge, a disaster response T-shirt, Certificate, and refreshments. Please make checks payable to St. Peter Lutheran Church. Please note on memo line 'LERT Training'. Checks may be brought the day of training. The LERT Trainer will distribute all training and post-class materials.
