Volunteer: LERT Deployment, Chainsaw Work and Church Cleanup, First Lutheran, Natchez MS, 10-10 thru 10-11, 2025Attention LERT trained chainsaw operators and those who have carpentry skills. Pastor Ed Brashier with Shepherd's Heart Ministries will lead at least a two-day deployment to First Lutheran Church in Natchez, Mississippi. Assignments for the deployment will include cutting down and removing an XL Tree in the front yard. (Trunk is at least 48 in. X 50 ft) The driveway to the church has overgrown bushes on each side that need to be trimmed. We will also tackle some low-hanging limbs at the driveway entrance. This will take place on the property of First Lutheran, 70 Sgt. S. Prentiss Dr. Natchez, MS 3912 If we have the time and enough volunteers, there are two small rooms behind the altar where the tile is broken, and the floor feels unstable. We’re hoping someone with flooring experience can join us—either to make the repairs if possible, or at least assess the damage so we can plan a follow-up workday if needed. If you have those skills, your help would be greatly appreciated. The Schedule: Deployment work days are set for Oct. 10 & 11. You may arrive on Thursday, Oct. 9. Work Friday, Oct. 10, as long as we can and maybe 4 to 8 hours Saturday, Oct. 11. Optional: Saturday afternoon, Oct. 11, enjoy historic Natchez, MS. Optional: Sunday, Oct. 12, worship at First Lutheran. District: Southern Attention LERT trained chainsaw operators and those who have carpentry skills. Volunteer: LERT deployment, Tornado cleanup, Camp Lutherhoma, Tahlequah OK, 10-15 thru 19-2025Early in the morning of June18, an F-1 tornado hit Camp Lutherhoma in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. This was a peak time for the camp which held about 100 campers and staff at the time. By the Grace of God no one was injured. Campers were sent home and the next week of camp was cancelled. Oklahoma District LERT teams arrived at camp within 12 hours of the tornado and the clean up began with the assistance of non-LERT volunteers and camp staff. Over the next week the vital areas of the camp were cleared and a new group of campers arrived 10 days after the tornado. Many areas of the camp remained uncleared. It was decided to clear the remaining areas when campers were not present. It is time to return to camp to finish our work. This deployment will require at least two chainsaw operators per session along with support staff of pullers and draggers. You may register for the entire deployment, for one day or for a 1/2 day. You are strongly encouraged to pre-register as it is difficult to accommodate others. Bunks in the cabins will be provided. Bring your own bedding. Showers are available on site. All meals will provided as will snacks, water and electrolyte replacement drinks. Bring your own PPE, a limited amount of PPE is available Deployment will begin 10-15-2025 and end 10-19-2025 District: Oklahoma Early in the morning of June18, an F-1 tornado hit Camp Lutherhoma in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
