Volunteer: LERT Team Training, Annual First Aid Training, Grace Lutheran Church, Knoxville TN, 2-28-2026This training class is intended for LERT team members and other first responders, but any church members are welcome to join. State Road 426, Oviedo, FL. Chainsaw training is offered to enhance the capabilities of LERT volunteers, enabling them to assist those who may lack the resources or skills to perform this hazardous work.
Goals: Ensure LERT Chainsaw Operators are properly prepared to serve safely and efficientlyProvide refresher training, through classroom and hands-on chainsaw useProvide enhanced-technique chainsaw trainingTraining topics: This is a combined “refresher” and “advanced” chainsaw training event, designed to refresh and enhance chainsaw operator knowledge and skills. Topics include chainsaw safety, personal protective equipment (PPE), felling, bucking and limbing trees, and special situations commonly found in storm clearing situations. Prerequisite: Participants must have previously completed the LERT Basic Chainsaw Training class.
Safety Gear & Equipment required: Chainsaw safety PPE: helmet, eye protection, gloves, chaps, and steel-toed bootsSteel-toed work boots are mandatoryOutdoor work clothing appropriate for the weatherParticipants should bring their own chainsaw, bar oil, and fuel mix if availableSome training chainsaws and PPE will be provided if needed
