Trainings & Deployments From: LCMS Disaster Response & Training

Volunteer: LERT Deployment, Tornado clean-up, Menasha Area, Neenah WI, 8-1-2026

Thank you for your patience and desire to serve.

We will begin our ongoing relief efforts on August 1. Volunteers need to be aware that work may be limited on Saturday due to downed power lines still present. The utility companies are doing the best they can - and doing a great job!

We will especially need CERTIFIED chainsaw operators, trained LERT members, and LCC Spiritual First Aid teams to visit with the neighborhoods.  Workers should bring full PPE for chainsaw operation. Thick work gloves, rakes, and other equipment will be helpful. Sturdy work shoes are a must - there are nails and other debris all over the place.

More opportunities to assist will be coming shortly and will be published on this site. We are limiting our start-up due to the possibly unsafe work conditions (powerlines) at the moment. We are also waiting for a number of locations to be visited by the insurance adjuster. Expect an increase in scheduled activations beginning next week. We want you to help

LERT volunteers should maintain an up-to-date background check using this site: https://www.lcms-lert.org/need/detail/?need_id=673397  It is required for any volunteers that stay overnight at the church OR work inside people's homes.

If you own an RV, we have a place to park but limited shoreline. You will want to haul water in and out.

District: South Wisconsin
