LERT deployment, Hurricane Helene response, Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Augusta GA, 10/9-11/1/24

Type of Response: Tree Debris Removal

Location: Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 402 Aumond Road, Augusta, GA

• Bring bedding for your air mattress
• Shower provided
• Bring your own basic toiletries, wash clothes, towels, etc
• Power and water have been restored
• Boil water is still in effect
• A/C working 
• Meals will be provided

Equipment:

Compact Skid-steers will be onsite.  Sawyers needed.

Bring your own chainsaw equipment & PPE

Only those 18 and old, who have gone through the LERT Chainsaw training, may operate a chainsaw.

Background checks are required for this deployment.

Please be aware that the details of this deployment are very fluid. Information is changing as the response continues. We will try to send updates in a timely fashion, but please check back often as information may change.

All volunteers who show up without registering will be considered spontaneous and will not be permitted to join in our work. 

Workdays will be  Monday through Friday.  Additional weeks may be needed.

Health Precautions:

·      Georgia can still be hot (80’s – 90’s).

·      Proper personal protective equipment (PPE), hardhat, eye protection, protective chaps, gloves must be worn when operating or working near a chainsaw.

·      Sturdy, steel-toed work boots are required. Tennis shoes and open-toed shoes are not allowed on work sites. 

·      Long pants are required.
