WANTED!! LERT VOLUNTEERS WHO ARE INTERESTED IN ASSISTING DISASTER RESPONSE IN THE KANSAS DISTRICT IN THE AREA OF ASSESSEMNTS
Who can be trained?
Assessments: Anyone 18 years and older who is interested in working in the early stages of a disaster to help with damage assessment and work orders.
Requirements: Participants must have completed Basic LERT Training and, if possible, a Basic Chainsaw Safety & Operation course. Your LERT Training facilitators will distribute all the LERT materials before and during class.
AM SESSION (8:30-12:00): Classroom and practice assessments exercises. This is the first step of equipping LERT Volunteers to perform damage assessments in varied scenarios and settings.
PM SESSION (12:30-4:00): Field Work. The next step in equipping LERT volunteers to perform damage assessments is in the field. Participants will put assessment strategies into practice in mock disaster situations.
Expectations: Assessors will be called upon in the early stages of Disaster Response in the Kansas District assisting the DDRC and team leaders in scheduling projects related to the response. This includes meeting with the homeowner to compete work orders and the necessary liability forms.
Location: King of Kings Lutheran Church, 306 E Madison, Gardner, KS
Time: 8:30am - 4pm. Please arrive by 8:00am to complete registration and sign in.

Lunch will be provided.
Registration: $10. Please register before APRIL 12, 2025. Walk-ins are welcome on a limited basis as materials will be limited.
Assessments:
1) Visual exploration of work site to determine extent of work needed
2) Determining volunteer requirements
3) Determining equipment needed to complete job
4) Securing required signatures on Liability forms and Work orders
5) Brief introduction to new Assessments software
