Basic Lutheran Early Response Team (LERT) training will take place on Friday, May 16 from 5:00pm to 9:00 pm at Grace Lutheran Church 9076 Middlebrook Pike, Knoxville, TN 37923. Participants will be introduced to the LCMS Disaster Response/ LERT program, learn the basic nature of disasters, the opportunities to respond to personal needs of the victims and how Lutherans can support families, congregations and their communities as the hands and feet of Jesus.
In the aftermath of a disaster, it's crucial to stay focused on the task at hand which is the person who has sustained a tremendous loss of life, home, vehicles, and loss of hope; LERT training will have you focused on MERCY. How we act or react sets the platform on what these hurting people see in us; with all the devastation around you, it is imperative you focus on the person.
The training will equip you to be an effective volunteer. Basic LERT training is mandatory for all volunteers.
The class size - 50; a meal will be provided; class fee - $20.00 (covers cost of Training Manual, ID card, and T-shirt).
Cash in the appropriate amount and checks made payable to Grace Lutheran Church (memo line - LERT training) will be accepted. If you have any questions, you may contact Rev. Trae Fistler. Email: pastor@faithhopkinsville.com. Cell phone: (515) 571-1378
