Both chainsaw and basic LERT volunteers are needed to conduct cleanup of storm damaged trees from the recent ice storm in Perry County. The draggers will be pulling limbs and cut up trunks from yards to the roadside or driveway and loading them in a dump truck. We currently have 10 locations to work in.
All LERT trained chainsaw operators are required to wear full appropriate PPE. Basic LERT volunteers are required to wear sturdy boots, work gloves and hard hats. All volunteers need to watch the weather prediction for the days of the deployment and to be prepared to wear appropriate clothing for the conditions.
LERT trained youth (14-17) are also invited to attend and help with dragging only. All volunteers are welcome to attend both days or just one day.
Housing will be provided at the Trinity school gym in Altenburg. Volunteers will need to bring a cot or air mattress, bedding or a sleeping bag and pillow. Showers are available in the gym but volunteers will need to provide their own towels, wash cloth and soap. There are also hotels available in Perryville. If you will be staying at the Trinity gym please let Kris Schuldt know.
All meals will be provided. Water, Gatorade and hot hand packets will be provided. We will meet both mornings at Saxon Lutheran Memorial near the office.
Immanuel Wentzville LERT team will bring chainsaws and tools, however all trained LERT chainsaw operators are welcome to bring their own favorite saw.
