LERT Chainsaw and debris removal Volunteers needed! We are asking for qualified LERT chainsaw Operators in assisting with debris removal to help with the removal of damaged trees near Perryville, MO. We also need volunteers to walk several farmer's fields to pick up debris in 5 gallon buckets and to drag pieces of tin to a provided dumpster.
We will welcome volunteers for all 3 days or even one day if possible. There is limited housing available in the connected farm house. Please let Kris Schuldt if you would like to stay in this farmhouse. It has 3 bedrooms and 2 couches to sleep on. Volunteers would need to provide their own bedding and wash cloths and towels. There are also B&Bs in Perryville as well as several hotels.
Currently meals will not be provided, however there is an effort in progress to perhaps provide meals and we won't have confirmation until Thursday.
All volunteers are requested to wear a yellow LERT shirt or vest. For those volunteers that will clean fields it is required to wear sturdy boots, leather work gloves and bring a hard hat and hearing protection if you are working not next to but near running chainsaws.
At this time, LERT volunteers are asked to be self-sufficient, in that they provide their own equipment and PPE - unless otherwise determined in consultation with the Site Coordinator. We will have chainsaws and our skid steer on site.
Water and Gatorade will be provided.
All LERT volunteers are requested to report at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 453 N. West St. Perryville, MO 63775 each morning at 8:00am.
Only registered LERT volunteers will be allowed to participate.
