This project will replace insulation and drywall that was damaged during recent flooding. Majority of the work will be in basements. Drywall experience is helpful but not required, and we will provide OJT. All tools and materials will be provided; however you may bring your favorite drywall tools. There will be a minimal need to do some mold mitigation.
Background checks are required for this Deployment because we are working in peoples' homes.
Note the change from previous phases: January 4 thru March 25, 2023 we will work 5 days a week on Tuesdays thru Saturdays. The work will be from 8am to 4pm daily and we will meet at Copperfield subdivision every morning.
All materials, masks and rubber gloves will be provided. Yellow LERT vests or shirts are strongly encouraged.
Water, gatorade and a lunch will be provided each day.
Sturdy shoes will be a necessity for carrying sheets of drywall down steps that have had carpet, etc. removed from them. Also, bring a lawn chair for breaks and lunch, most basements have no place to sit.
The current plan is to create 3 crews of 5 volunteers each to work each day. At least one volunteer on each team will have experience with drywall, mudding and taping and will be the crew team leader. It is estimated this project may last approximately 3 more months. Volunteers may sign up for just one day or for all of the listed days. We will also have a Saturday scheduled for volunteers that work at their jobs during the week. If aLERT team or church group would like to adopt a basement as a team mission project contact Kris Schuldt at pitchatent@centurytel.net for details. As of December three church groups have requested to adopt a basement as a team mission project.
For all out of area or state volunteers please email Kris Schuldt at pitchatent@centurytel.net for availability of local Host families. There are also numerous motels in St. Charles, Mo. Additional deployment postings will be created as work progresses and as material availability increases.
Crews will meet each morning at Copperfield Subdivision unless otherwise noted for assignments and for loading material and tools. The address we meet at changes daily. Send a text to 314-971-5747 to obtain the daily address.
