Description

The northeastern town of Barnsdall, OK. suffered an EF-4 tornado on May 6. About 1000 people live there and the tornado damaged or destroyed more than 60 homes.

Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church will be hosting local LERT volunteers for debris cleanup and chainsaw operations.

Personal Protection Eqipment & Gear:

  1. Sturdy shoes with a good solid sole & socks - no sandals, flipflops, or sneakers.
  2. Long pants
  3. Long sleeved shirt (recommended)
  4. Ball cap or hard hat
  5. Safety glasses/eye protection
  6. Sturdy work gloves
  7. Rain gear if you have it (weather is unsettled and rain may be possible)
  8. Water bottle

All volunteers must register on the LERT website and select their preferred days to work.

Tetnus shots are recommended and are available free in Barnsdall from the osage county health department.
