Description
Grace Lutheran Church, Woodbridge, VA is hosting the LERT Basic Chainsaw Training class on Saturday, March 29, 2025. The training will be held at Grace. The training will consist of 4 hours of classroom instruction in the morning session, and 4 hours of operational-based instruction in the afternoon session. Cost is $35.00. Cash or checks (payable to Grace Lutheran Church, memo: LERT Chainsaw Training) will be accepted. Snacks and lunch will be provided.
Class registration must be made at www.LCMS-LERT.org. Participants are urged to pre-register before March 10, 2025, so we have the proper materials for everyone. Participants may register for either the morning session (non-operator certification) only, or for both morning and afternoon sessions (operator certification). All participants in the afternoon session will need to wear steel-toed boots.
You must have previously completed the LERT Basic Training Class to participate in this class.
During the training, you will learn the following:
- Safe operation of a chainsaw
- Personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Injury prevention
- Physics of cutting trees
- How to buck and limb fallen trees
- How to clear debris in a safe and beneficial manner

Note: The morning session is able to accommodate as many as would like to participate. The hands-on afternoon session can only accommodate 12 people.
