At the end of July, a resident located in the south portion of Raleigh, NC lost his entire shop, equipment and livelihood in a vicious overnight fire just (photos below). The shop owner is a self-employed engineer who designs and fabricates custom vehicle parts for a living. He, his wife and child are devastated by the loss of the business, though extremely grateful that firefighters prevented the flames from touching their primary home structure nearby.
The homeowner would welcome some volunteer assistance with demolition in coming weeks. Small teams are being organized to help with work days scheduled for:
- Friday, 8/16
- Friday, 8/23 (separate post/sign-up for 8/23)
- other dates TBD
This will be ashy demolition work limited to groups of 6-8 volunteers each workday for safety considerations. Follow-up details will be sent later this week and next week to those who sign up. Some of the items for volunteers to bring are:
- Water
- Sack lunch
- Eye protection
- Ear protection
- Dust masks
- Heavy duty leather gloves (multiple pair)
- Steel-toed boots
- Flathead and grain shovels
- Wheelbarrows
