Bill Barthel and Marty Johnson will direct the hands-on field experience training for the chainsaw. This session takes place on Saturday, September 28 in Seneca SC. Eternal Shepherd Lutheran Church is the host congregation.
This is part two of the workshop and is the hands-on field chainsaw operation training where participants will learn and demonstrate chainsaw skills. This training is limited to 6 participants.
To be an authorized LCMS LERT Chainsaw Operator and use a chainsaw on LERT disaster responses sites, you must attend BOTH the classroom and afternoon "hands-on" sessions.

Cost of Training:
- Registration (includes training, lunch, water,
and snacks) -- $25.00, which includes costs for both Friday and Saturday.
- Pay at the time of training; checks payable to “Eternal Shepherd Lutheran” and write on the memo line: “LERT Chainsaw training” Payment is required for materials and participation in the event.
Participants should bring:
- Chainsaw, bar oil, gas/oil or synthetic fuel mix,
- Chaps and other Personal Protective Equipment (helmet, eye protection, ear protectors, gloves, and steel-toe boots).
- Participants must wear steel-toed boots. Tennis shoes or sandals/flip-flops are not allowed in the afternoon field session.
- Outdoor work clothes and boots appropriate for the weather at the time. Shorts are not allowed.
