This is a change of Site for LERT response to Mayfield, KY. There will be no response to Bowling Green, KY at this time.
Volunteers needed to help cleanup efforts following tornado activity in the Mayfield, KY area following tornado activity.
Nature of work: Debris removal, retrieval of personal effects and processing, chain sawing (for LERT chainsaw teams only), and support of those who have sustained loss in the storms.
Host congregation is St. Paul Lutheran Church, 211 South 21st Street, Paducah, KY 42003. Volunteers should be self-sufficient and bring bedding, cot/mattress, supplemental food, and any necessary work clothes and equipment for their shift.
It is planned to provide an evening meal for LERT volunteers at the host site but volunteers should have adequate supplemental food and funds, etc. for their use as the host site accommodations develop. Showers will be available at a local gym in Paducah. the kitchen is available for use at the host site.

Background checks are required for all volunteers who will enter residences, retrieve or process personal items, work with youth, or stay at the LERT volunteer host site. The background check is processed through the LCMS LERT system when you sign up for a shift.
Local COVID protocols cannot always be followed in a disaster response situation. We ride in trucks together, eat together, sleeping quarters are not spacious. Each individual can socially distance to their own comfort level.
