Volunteer: LERT Deployment, Tornado Chainsaw assistance, Indiana District, Merrillville IN 6-16 thru 27-2026Lutheran Church Charities Disaster Response is partnering with the Indiana District to provide chainsaw assistance for residents in Merrillville, IN, affected by the June 11th EF-2 tornado with 120 mph winds that hit a heavily populated area of town, causing 200 structures to be damaged or destroyed. This deployment will run from Tuesday, June 16, to Saturday, June 27. It will be led by Pastor Josh Osbun, IN DDRC and Deac. Kathy O’Day, LCC Dir. of Disaster Response. Deployment Dates: Week 1: Tuesday, June 16 - Saturday, June 20 Week 2: Monday, June 22 – Saturday, June 27 Lodging, Showers and Meals for up to 15 volunteers needing to stay will be provided by: Trinity Lutheran Church 250 S. Indiana Ave Crown Point, IN 46307 Volunteers must meet at 8:00 am each morning at the church for devotions, briefing and assignments. Please register for the days you intend to be present for deployment. If you will need lodging, please indicate in comments section and text Kathy your name and dates at 847-287-1801. IMPORTANT NOTES LERT background checks are required for this deployment.
