Volunteer: LERT Deployent, Tornado Damage Cleanup, Immanuel Lutheran Church, Charleston IL, 6-22 thru 7-2-2026

LERT chainsaw operators are needed to clean up tornado damage in and around the city of Charleston, Illinois.

LERT volunteers are also needed to drag and pick up limbs.

All volunteers are required to wear Yellow LERT shirts or vests. All chainsaw operators are required to wear all PPE.

We will have water and Gatorade on site. Housing and meals will be provided.

Please contact Kris Schuldt if you need local housing. Housing will be in the Campus Ministry building on Immanuel's property in Charleston. Volunteers will need to bring their own cots or air mattresses, all bedding, towels, etc. We will have full access to the kitchen and BBQ pits. I have not found an ice machine yet. A shower will be provided at the local Pastor's house.

Many of the roads are blocked by downed trees, so at this writing it is unclear whether we can reach all the sites yet. Cleanup work is ongoing here. It is anticipated that power may be restored over the weekend.

We currently have 3 crews that have verbally indicated they will bring skid steers.

This deployment schedule may become fluid over the Fourth of July and may be extended as needed.
