What We Do
The Nebraska Lutheran Early Response Team (LERT) is a program designed to train volunteers to serve their congregations and communities in the event of various disasters. Under the direction of LCMS Disaster Response, training is provided to individuals and team members to identify opportunities for service, prepare them for such service, and understand the importance of Christian witness in showing mercy in the midst of disasters and personal hardships. We literally serve as the hands and feet of Jesus in disaster response work.
Our Mission is: Mercy in Action; Our Vision is: to be the hands and feet of Jesus in serving those impacted by disasters or personal hardship, and to speak Jesus’ words of compassion, love and hope to those who are hurting.
The LERT program is part of a Synod-wide disaster response training effort to credential volunteers for service to the Church. Additional information and opportunities to enlist for training and/or volunteer disaster response services, are found on this website.
