As of now the SID disaster response group has been asked to report to the Augusta, GA site.
The Northeast Oklahoma LERT team met today to develop plans for disaster response in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. Currently, we tentatively plan to deploy to Augusta, GA. on Tuesday, Oct. 8. thru Wednesday, Oct. 16. We would meet at Trinity Lutheran Church in Broken Arrow to depart. In addition, the trip to Augusta is 940 miles. We have made arrangements with Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Tupelo, MS to stay overnight in their church. We have open spots for two more volunteers if interested in deploying with us.
Logistics for where to stay have not been completed at this time but will be coming shortly. Be sure to like (fan) the Florida-Georgia District to make sure you receive updated information and directions as to how to sign up for the deployment.
If you are interested in deploying to Augusta, GA., either on Tuesday or at a later date, please contact Denny Rader by either email or cell phone so we may coordinate travel plans.
Planned LERT deployments will be officially announced on the LCMS-LERT.org. All registration links with deployment information will be sent to LERT volunteers as soon as available.
LERT background checks will be required for all volunteers. If yours is not current, please start it here: LERT background check link
