Volunteers in North Carolina from all over the country as well as local LERT teams have been focused on helping survivors with cleaning out their flooded muddy homes and doing tree work. If anyone is interested in helping, please see the deployment notifications listed in the Southeastern District LERT page for locations, dates and availability. Some of the deployments will be expiring soon and others will be added in the future to conduct rebuilds.
There is also an effort underway to be able to handout 18,000 flood buckets and hygiene kits. The Disaster Center focused on this effort is located in St. Peter's Lutheran Church at Conover, NC. Exact items needed for these buckets and kits can be found on the website for St. Peter's church. stpetersconover.org Please only send the exact items and sizes listed.
The site also has a link to Amazon for these items. If your church or LERT team wants to deliver the items to the church, there is housing on cots available at the church and you will need to bring your own bedding. Please note it is important to communicate with the church office when you will be delivering items, what you are bringing and if you require housing. Call the church office and there is a team of volunteers waiting to receive your calls.
Note: there are also deployments located in adjacent states to North Carolina that also are in need of LERT qualified volunteers. Please check their pages as well in LCMS-LERT.org.
