Description

Description

On Sunday, November 3, 2024 unexpected tornadoes devastated the community of Choctaw, Oklahoma. Emergency officials estimate that 15 to 20 homes are now total losses in the community.

The Oklahoma LERT team(s) are developing plans for disaster response in the aftermath of the tornadoes. Currently, Level 1 assessments will be conducted in the next few days to determine the extent of damage and tentatively plan to deploy to Choctaw on Saturday, Nov. 9.

Redeemer Lutheran Church in Shawnee will be the Operations Center closest to the disaster sites. If a deployment is scheduled, LERT volunteers should collectively plan to meet at the church Saturday morning at 8:00 am.

Redeemer Lutheran Church, 39307 W. MacArthur St., Shawnee, OK.
Logistics for where to stay have not been completed at this time but will be coming shortly. Be sure to like (fan) the Oklahoma District to make sure you receive updated information and directions as to how to sign up for the deployment.

If you are interested in deploying to Choctaw either on Saturday or at a later date, please contact Don Kelle by either email or cell phone.

Planned LERT deployments will be officially announced on the LCMS-LERT.org. All registration links with deployment information will be sent to LERT volunteers as soon as available.
