Fanned the OK district? Check out the deployment for Camp Lutherhoma and this invite from our neighbors in IDE
Remember, you can sign up for any number of days that work is being done - 1, 2, or all
Iowa District East DDRC Daniel Sanchez is rallying some volunteers from Iowa to go down to Camp Lutherhoma in Tahlequah, OK, October 14-19. This is one of the first quiet weeks at the Camp, where people aren't present and meaningful work can be done since the initial cleanup.
We'd also be working with the OklahomaLERT team, and they will have some local equipment and skid steers to help with the tree work. There is plenty of work with more than 50 trees still with damage, as well as general cleanup. For sure, Daniel and 3 others from his congregation are committed to going, and he is inviting LERT volunteers from Iowa District West to come along. Lodging, food, and showers are provided at the Camp.
The town of Tahlequah is nearby if anyone needs supplies, you can run into town for something quickly. This could be a great first deployment to learn a lot about how LERT and LCMS Disaster Response work while also having adequate facilities.
