Save the date—May 2, 2026, for the first-ever Southern Illinois District (SID) Disaster Response Retreat at Camp Wartburg.
Anyone interested in our Synod’s disaster response ministry is encouraged to attend, whether you are formally LERT-trained or simply interested in learning more about the program.
During the morning session, you will receive updates on your Synod’s disaster response efforts and hear about their plans going forward. Representatives from the SID LERT team will share highlights of their recent work and outline their vision for the future. You can also view the equipment the district has acquired for disaster response and participate in a discussion on whether the district should establish a 501(c)(3) organization to own and manage this equipment.
In the afternoon, LERT-trained participants may attend a Stop the Bleed and CPR class to strengthen their ability to respond to catastrophic injuries—at home, at church, or during a disaster deployment. Those who are not yet LERT trained will have the opportunity to enroll in the LERT Basic class. While this course normally costs $35, the special retreat rate will be $20. The registration fee includes the LERT manual, T-shirt, certificate, and LERT ID badge.
Lunch will be provided for all registrants.
