UPDATE: 6/21/26 DEBRIS CLEANUP AND TREE WORK
Due to last night's rain in Topeka, the start date for volunteers in Topeka is Tuesday, June 23rd. All other details remain the same.
Topeka is still clearing debris and managing tree damage from the June 8-9 storms, and they need our help!
We are working with Hollie Tapley with Great Plains United Methodist Conference, as they were the organization that the local Emergency Management contacted. We have worked with Hollie’s team in the past, and they are experienced in organizing volunteers and work orders. She tells me they still have about 30 properties in need of assistance. She will review the remaining jobs on Monday and let me know what remains after the weekend.
If you are available to go to Topeka next week, there is no formal volunteer center set up, so:
· Take your own food, water and snacks
· Take your own PPE and equipment
· If you want to stay overnight, you will need to provide your own housing.
Volunteer intake is located at: Susanna Wesley United Methodist Church, 7433 SW 29th St, Topeka, KS 66614
Questions can be directed to me (316)641-0332 or to Hollie (904)468-0529.
I am still waiting for details for Salina. I’ll send a separate announcement for that location as it becomes available.
Blessings,
Donna Williams (316) 641-0332
