Please save the date and plan to attend the first Southern Illinois District Disaster program (LERT) update and discussion to be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Collinsville, IL, on Saturday, October 24, from 9:00 a.m. to 11 a.m. Coffee and donuts will be provided.
The purpose of this roundtable is to:
- Update SID members on past and present activities of our Synodical and District programs:
- Update SID members on future plans of our Synodical and District programs:
- Discuss ways to better communicate with our District congregations and members:
- Need for continued trainings including specialized training opportunities such as advanced chainsaw, trauma and other training opportunities.
- Form a committee to advice our SID Board of Directors as to whether a separate 501C3 organization should be formed for our District Disaster LERT program.
This event will be for any member of the SID that has an interest in disaster response, whether they are presently trained or not. Please invite others you believe may be interested in learning more about our Synodical and District program. The new District disaster trailer and equipment will be present for all to see how well our District team is equipped.
There will be a future 'deployment' notice sent out through the LCMS-LERT.org web portal for attendees to sign up for the roundtable. There will be no cost to attend but by signing up we will know how many we need to set the room up for (and make sure we have enough donuts!!).
So please save the date, spread the word and plan to sign up!
