LERT (Lutheran Early Response Team) Basic Training Event, for new volunteer certification, or refreshing of information. Taking the training does not commit you to any specific deployment (on site work) although we encourage active participation when possible, and each deployment is completely voluntary.
Basic training enables volunteers to be received at LERT disaster clean up sites on a local team which stands prepared to respond when life hurdles happen and where survivors of damage are in need of assistance. Taking basic training will also help your area team grow to serve in the community for local missions of mercy. This event serves to fill a gap of needed LERT team(s), specifically in Iowa District West and surrounding LCMS districts.
Basic training is materials and discussion based. If there is a short hands-on project added, we will notify those who have registered, and your participation is voluntary.
A registration fee of $25 per person will pay for lunch, training materials, certificate, LERT volunteer T-shirt. Your LERT Trainer will distribute all materials for the class and after the class.
Doors open at 8:30 am, Class starts at 9:00 am and runs until around 1:30 pm.
Please have registration fee made out to to "IDW" and note "LERT Training 3/22/25" on your check.
