This event is a partnership of SED Disaster Response, Shepherd's Heart Ministries, and LCMS Disaster Response.

The purpose of this event is to give participants an opportunity to serve their neighbor with the love of Christ by caring for their physical needs and helping with tree work and debris removal.

Description of work:

This project will involve, tree work and debris removal, activities common to storm damage recovery efforts due to damage due to Hurricane Helene in the Linville NC area.

IMPORTANT NOTES

LERT background checks are required for this Deployment because we are working at peoples' homes. The LCMS LERT system will take you to the Sterling Volunteers site to get your background check (no cost to all LERT volunteers) when you sign up for this LERT Deployment.

Location: Camp Linn Haven,  1308 Linville Falls Hwy, Linville, NC 28646

Housing Details:

  • Guests will be housed in a bunk house.
  • Bring bedding for cot .
  • Shower provided
  • Meals will be provided

What you need to bring:

Clothing appropriate for the season.

Toiletries and prescription medicines

Sturdy shoes/work boots will be a necessity for carrying sheets of drywall down steps that have had carpet, etc. removed from them. 

Work gloves

Protective eye wear

Long pants (jeans) and work shirts (of course, socks, etc.!)
