Volunteers Needed!
We’re looking for volunteers to help with several hands-on projects at the barn and new bathroom build. Tasks include moving tools and equipment out of a barn room, building a new floor, and clearing the carpentry room by packing tools and display cases into bins. We’ll also finish the outer and inner walls of the new bathroom—using sliced logs on the exterior and plywood, sheet metal, and wood strips on the interior. We’ll be slicing old logs with our Alaskan Mill and may fell one tree behind the barn if time allows.
We need four volunteers on Thursday, January 29, to hang insulation and plywood in the new bathroom closet and, if time allows, in the four toilet rooms. All materials are on-site, and we’ll have a dump trailer and skid steer available. The remainder of the work will take place from February 4-7.
If time permits, we also need two experienced chainsaw volunteers to fell one tree behind the barn (PPE and chainsaws required).
Logistics:
• Meet daily at 8:00 a.m. at Saxon Lutheran Memorial, 296 Saxon Memorial Dr., Frohna, MO.
• Wear yellow LERT shirts or vests
• Dress for the weather and bring your own tools if doing carpentry
• Water and Gatorade provided; meals in progress
• Housing provided: two bedrooms in a house near Frohna, plus cots in the newly restored log cabin (electricity, lights, heat). Please bring your own cot and bedding.
