This deployment will convert an existing bathroom into a handicap accessible bathroom that will allow wheelchair access for a resident of the home. The work requires us to completely demolish the 5' x 7' bathroom, widen the door, add a barrier free wheelchair friendly shower stall, convert the sink into a wheelchair accessible sink arrangement, install a pocket door, completely re-drywall the bathroom, install water resistant floor tile, paint all walls, lower electrical outlets and lower the mirror. A plumber and electrician have been procured to assist with moving utilities.
LERT Volunteers will conduct demolition, install the pocket door, install drywall, paint walls, install floor tile and shower stall tile after the plumber sets the base and reconnects the drain. The project will require coordination between volunteers and the plumber and electrician. A movable dust barrier must also be temporarily installed for the protection of the residents. With the small workspace we will be working in only 4 or 5 volunteers will be needed on each shift.
Lunch will be provided daily by the WIM of Immanuel Wentzville.
Our plan is to use tools and materials left over from the recent Drywall deployment in Copperfield. Volunteers may also be requested to bring a few specialized tools as needed and available.
