Florida-Georgia Lutheran Early Response (FGLER) will provide Bobcat “skidsteer” training on Saturday, March 9, 2024. The training will familiarize you with how to operate a Bobcat mini-track loader ("skid steer") for use during LERT disaster response cleanup responses. Bobcat operators are needed to assist chainsaw teams in moving tree debris and larger debris.
Training will be held at Cedarkirk Camp & Conference Center, 1920 Streetman Drive, Lithia, FL 33547 (Brandon area).
Lunch is provided. Bottled water will be furnished at the site.
During the training, you will learn the following:
-
Safe operation of a Bobcat MT85 or MT100 mini-track loader with grapple.
-
Basic preventative maintenance of the machine.
-
How to efficiently move tree debris.
This is hands-on training, so operators must be able to physically handle operating the machine in a standing position over rough terrain.
Other LERT trainings will be going on at the same time. We will be working with the Chainsaw Training in clearing tree debris.
Operators must be at least 18 years of age and wear personal protective equipment when operating the machine. PPE includes helmet, ear protection, and eye protection (a chainsaw helmet works well); gloves are recommended. FGLER has helmets available if you do not have one.
Training Costs: A suggested $35 donation to help cover the cost of fuel, transportation, lunch, and a FGLER shirt is welcome.
NOTE: This is a full-day training; please do not sign up for another class offering.
