At the end of July, a resident located in the south portion of Raleigh, NC lost his entire shop, equipment and livelihood in a vicious overnight fire just (photos below). The shop owner is a self-employed engineer who designs and fabricates custom vehicle parts for a living. He, his wife and child are devastated by the loss of the business, though extremely grateful that firefighters kept the flames from touching their primary home structure nearby.
The homeowner would welcome some continued volunteer assistance with demolition in coming weeks. A small team is being organized to help on Saturday, 9/14. WORK ADDRESS WILL BE PROVIDED VIA EMAIL TO THOSE WHO SIGN UP.
This will be sooty demolition work of the metal structure, limited to groups of 6-8 volunteers each workday for safety considerations. Follow-up details and an additional waiver will be sent by email to those who sign up. Some of the items for volunteers to bring are:
- Water
- Sack lunch
- Eye protection
- Ear protection
- Dust masks
- Heavy duty leather gloves (multiple pair)
- Steel-toed boots
